Mountbatten Circuit Race - 3rd July 2013

Six JMJ racers were at the Mountbatten Centre ready for the Wednesday evening criterium.

Aspens first race

From left to right - Dan Stephens, Mike Marriot, Dave Harding, Andrew Gough, Jeremy Lambert, Norman Harvey.
At the front is our youngest team member Aspen Marriot.

It was Aspens first race and she did very well in the youngsters race and completed her four laps in fine style.

The JMJ Cycles Race Team were looking to replicate JMJ Cycles Matt Heathcotes win from last weeks race ......

Teeing up for the leadout

The 3/4 category race went off straight from the gun. Jeremy, Dan and Mike Marriot were looking to create a winning break in this evenings race and kept the speed high and attacked numerous times. Gaps were created but the peloton were not letting anything get away, every effort was brought back together. The JMJ 'plan B' was to lead out Jeremy Lambert for the win. Dan took it up with 5 minutes to go and kept the pace high enough for no attacks. With 3 laps to go Dan accelerated - Dave Harding took over at Lap two - then Norman Harvey took Jeremy Lambert to 250 meters - Jeremy was beaten by half a wheel into 2nd place. A sterling effort by all the team. The average speed for the race was 27.2 mph !

Celebrating another great team effort

Looking forward to next week for more of the same attacking team effort.

JMJ Cycles Team Launch

http://www.velouk.net/2013/02/24/team-news-jmj-cycles-team-launched/

Graham Robins writes … Running from the shop in Woolston by team owner Nikki Harding, this new team hopes to establish it’s self as a winning force at the local races. The team has been set up to promote the shop run by Nikki and her internet business locally, and the team is hoping to move forward into 2014by helping younger teenage riders progress from the youth racing in the senior ranks.
Team manager Dave Harding will be hoping to rekindle the successes he had with his own team a couple of years ago (DHC) winning several British Cycling Regional Road Racing Team Championships for three consecutive years; 2007, 2008 and 2009. DHC ran for ten years before the shop and team had to close its doors in 2010.

Dave has spent the last two years building up towards the new team and feels he has the correct formula now to re enter the competitive racing scene again. Along with two local riders Andy Gough and Mike Marriot Dave hopes to build throughout this season making 2013 a ‘Pink and Blue’ year.
Andrew:
Andrew have been racing since 1994 (18 years) and have won a number of local, regional and national level races and championships and have spent 2 seasons racing full time / pro in France. During my time in France I raced for Team Europe. The manager was an agent for the Bbox Telecom Team and Cofidis Team amongst other World Tour teams and he’d had set up his own full time / pro team to develop talent.
I was one of the team’s sprinters on the flat races and Domestique on other races setting up victories for the team. I lived in Craon near Laval in North West France with 3 other team mates in our one of the teams apartments. The team was a real mix of nationalities, Polish, Romanian, Estonian, Latvian, Moldovan, Hungarian and British and we raced a mixture of races including some top French races that went out on TV.
Andrew said: “I am really excited to be joining the JMJ Cycles Team, it’s a brilliant venture. I have known and ridden with Dave Harding for a number of years and his plan and enthusiasm for the team and the sport is infectious. I am looking forward to racing on Forme Bikes, they look great and early reports sound very promising. Lake shoes and Limar Helmets have a brilliant reputation so I look forward to putting them through their paces.
Personally I am looking forward to building on my2 race wins from 2012, helping out my team mates and spreading the JMJ Cycles word”
Mike:
Mike has been out of competition for a fair few years and is looking to start racing again in 2013. Mike will be racing at BC 4th cat level for starters but is looking to gain his 3rd cat license quickly. Mike is looking to continue racing throughout the season to gain a good level of fitness and gain a 3rd cat license. Mike will then be ready for his real passion which is Cyclo cross. Mike is looking forward to next years Cyclo cross season. Mike is and was a keen off-road enthusiast and I think happiest off road. He is looking to the road racing as a way to gain fitness fast.
Mike said: “I am really looking forward to racing again and being part of the team here at JMJ Cycles”.
The team will have support for Moore Large &Co and this year Simon Adams the Territory Account Manager South Central said “’Moore Large & Co are proud to be supporting the JMJ Cycles team in 2013. Nikki, Dave and their team have been a pleasure to work with in 2012 and I look forward to seeing the new race jerseys mixing it up in the local peloton. The mixture of youth and experience within the team will stand them in good stead for the upcoming year of racing. I wish all the team the best of luck in 2013′.
The team will be riding on bespoke Forme Bikes complete with Forza and Jagwire components shod with Kenda tyres. Andy and Mike will be using Shimano components while Dave’s bike will be running Campagnolo. The team will be wearing Limar crash helmets and Lake Shoes.

"I was a member of a succesful cycle club 'DHC-Colnago' for approx 10 years. The DHC race team led and were British Cyclings regional southern area winning Road Racing Team for three consecutive years; 2007,2008 and 2009. The shop (and cycle club) unfortunately closed its doors for the last time in 2010. I now ride my bike for pleasure and race (making up the numbers!). This year I am racing for JMJ Cycles. Pink and Blue is the new Blue and White ! .......
Like Andrew I am so looking forward to this new adventure and giving 100% effort for the team. We will be riding Forme Bikes for 2013. Nikki has chosen the 'Longcliffe 2.0' as our weapon of choice. I cannot praise Forme bikes enough, although mid range the Longcliffe 2.0 punches way above its weight and I'm sure will carry our riders to many wins in the coming season. Andy and Mike will be riding with Shimano equipment and myself with Campagnolo. Check out the Forme bike range here - www.formebikes.co.uk"
